Launch Statement!

I'm excited to announce the newest version of my private psychotherapy practice! After I completed the requirements for my License in Creative Arts Therapy in 2020, which is a psychotherapy license in NY state, I began moving toward this dream to form a licensed private therapy practice.

I founded Sound + Nature to bring somatic psychotherapy, psychedelic assisted and integration therapy, music therapy and attachment therapy into a licensed psychotherapy practice where clients can receive individual and group mental health care. Clients, together with the therapist, can decide which offerings are most appropriate for them and develop an individualized treatment plan.

After I was licensed in 2020, I completed trainings in verbal methods for somatic and attachment therapies to address trauma, depression and anxiety. I am a certified practitioner in the Trauma Solutions method known as Dynamic Attachment Re-wiring experience which is the leading modality that brings together Somatic Experiencing with Attachment therapy (see the work of Dr. Diane Poole Heller).

Coming full circle, I am feeling so inspired by the way music therapy, psychedelic assisted therapy and experience, somatic therapy and attachment therapy can work together for healing and growth, promoting connection with oneself and others. As classic psychedelics like psilocybin (magic mushrooms) are moving quickly through approval for therapeutic work in the clinical trials, Ketamine is currently legal for use in Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP). I am proud to have partnered with Journey Clinical since last Spring and have worked with over 20 clients providing in person KAP sessions to treat trauma, depression, anxiety and addiction. In a placebo controlled study on ketamine for anxiety and depression, 89% of patients responded positively to ketamine treatments (source: national institute of mental health).

My many years of providing music therapy in foster care and with children on the autistic spectrum, as well as my own dedicated practice as musician/performing artist, alongside many psychedelic experiences that were profoundly healing for me, have set the foundation for this leap into the future of arts based somatic oriented experiential mental health care.

Here is what I really want to tell you about psychedelic assisted therapy. Utilizing the profound effects of psychedelic experiences in a therapeutic relationship can yield better results than unstructured experiences that do not involve targeting therapeutic goals. Bringing in live music or carefully catered playlists can bring the therapeutic experience to new heights. Lastly, somatic therapy is ideal for this work. Somatic therapy is body centered and works to bring clients into contact with how they experience emotions and mental states in their bodies. A good somatic therapist can help the client discover ways to release reactive patterns that are felt in the body as tension, pain, unease, fear, anxiety and sickness.

Sound and Nature is also available to develop customized retreats and workshops for groups of people to have somatic and sound meditation experiences for restoration of the nervous system, recovery from excessive exposure to digital media and connection with natural settings. Retreats and workshops can include participation from specialists in restorative yoga and other healing art forms.

My office is in Hudson, NY 12534
